Road Blocking, Flying Russian Flag Not Allowed In FCT – Police

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF), said the blocking of road and obstructing traffic will not be allowed in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The police also said flying Russian flags, which can be generally seen as act of treason would not also be tolerated.

This is even as the Department of State Services (DSS), has confirmed the arrest of tailors making the Russian flags and some of their sponsors in Kano State.

The service is also investigation the motives and ideas behind the flags been displayed in some of the scenes of the violent protest, looting and destruction currently happening in Kano State.

Confirming the arrest to LEADERSHIP, the DSS spokesperson, Dr Peter Afunanya in a chat with our correspondent, said, “The DSS has apprehended some tailors in Kano State responsible for making the Russian flags being distributed in the area. Some of their sponsors have also been picked. Investigation is ongoing.”

Also, the FCT police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh while reacting to policemen firing tear gas at protesters blocking the way in Jikwoyi, Abuja on Monday, said, “Blocking road and flying Russian flag in the FCT will not be tolerated.”

It would be noted that some Nigerians, including a former general and ex-diplomats, have expressed worry after some protesters in the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protest were seen waving what appeared like the Russian flag.

They said the scene did not portend well for the country and warned Nigerians and the federal government to guard against foreign incursion.

Recall that the nationwide protest, which commenced on Thursday, August 1, was in response to the hardship experienced by citizens in the country.
