Otti who stated this during his monthly address tagged; “Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians,” in Umuahia, mentioned that the improved curriculum aims to attract foreign students as well.

The governor outlined several components of the agenda, including the ongoing training of 2,000 teachers as master trainers, enhanced welfare packages, and an extension of the teachers’ retirement age from 60 to 65 years.

He also addressed concerns about potential layoffs in the state’s civil service, emphasizing that the administration is committed to upgrading and improving the service rather than implementing mass retrenchments. “There are no plans for massive retrenchment. We will continue to enhance the civil service and increase productivity,” he assured.

Additionally, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, announced a change in the school resumption date from September 16 to September 23. Kanu explained that the delay is due to the observance of a Muslim public holiday on the Monday preceding the original date.
