Kogi State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that over 500 supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have defected to its fold within the last one week.

The over 500 defectors are mostly from the Koton Karfe South East ward, where over 1,000 PDP members earlier defected and more are expected. This was made known while receiving the supporters in Koton-Karfe, Kogi State.

One of the defectors, Danladi Umar from Edeha Community of Koton Karfe South East ward, stated that governor Yahaya Bello, has made Kogites proud with his developmental strides, listing the governor’s performance as part of the reasons they dumped the PDP.

A youth among the defectors, Iliyasu Abdullahi also said that his sojourn in the PDP has not been rewarding, pointing out that he saw how the APC has been responding positively to its members.

Similarly, Amina Muhammed, Amina Abdullahi and Zainab Adamu who all led various women groups to the APC, assured the APC of total victory.

In Ozi community in the same ward, Daniel Agbo, led some other defectors from PDP to APC, ascribing the impact made in their communities to the Kogi State commissioner for solid minerals and natural resources, Engr Bashiru Gegu.

He stated that the sincerity and good human relationship of Engr Bashir Gegu are some of the factors motivating them to join the ruling APC as they cannot afford to be onlookers in the next dispensation.

Speaking on the development, commissioner for solid minerals and natural resources, Engineer Bashir Gegu, said it is becoming obvious that APC remains the dominant party in Kogi LGA.

He hinged the massive defection to the good works of Governor Yahaya Bello and expressed optimism that with the influx of people from the opposition party, the APC will record an overwhelming victory in the forthcoming general election.
