The federal government through the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has installed solar-powered lights on the streets of the Ijare community in the Ifedore local government area of Ondo State, exciting residents.

The ancient town had been neglected for a long time in terms of social amenities both by the state and federal governments.

The streetlights which were inaugurated by REA yesterday were facilitated by one of the prominent sons of the town, Prince Tope Oluwajana.

Appreciating the federal government led by President Bola Tinubu for remembering them, the regent of the town, High Chief Salotun, Ogunleye Joseph Omoshebi, urged both the federal and the state governments to look towards the town for further development.

Omoshebi who appealed to the Ondo State government to address the deficit of social amenities in the town stated that the roads, which linked the area to others, had been cut off for a long time but the government had yet to do something about it.

The community leader who also stated that the community lacked good roads, electricity and other infrastructure, emphasized that the road network-challenge had been making it difficult for farmers to transport their produce to urban centres and appealed to the state government to consider repairing the roads to assist them.

The Regent said, “While thanking the federal government for giving us the solar streetlights, we still need help from the government. Our roads are bad.”
