Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru has ordered the immediate arrest and prosecution of one Mr Ndukwe Ayansi and five others for allegedly selling materials meant for the state’s Ministry of Health without approval.

In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Dr. Monday Uzor and made available to LEADERSHIP, the Governor sighted a Toyota Dyana truck loading registers, books and other materials from the warehouse in the Ministry of Health while inspecting the state government projects.

According to the statement, the Governor on sighting the truck immediately drove into the state secretariat where he made inquiries but was not satisfied with the answers provided.

Nwifuru probed further and discovered that patients’ data registers, cards and a host of other documents had already been moved into the vehicle.

The Governor also discovered that all the documents had already been sold without government approval.

Speaking at the scene, Governor Nwifuru described the action as sabotage to government efforts at repositioning the health sector.

“You are selling government documents without approval on a Saturday afternoon. Our hospitals in the rural areas are requesting for registers and data entry forms and hospital cards. Sadly, the ones the government has produced are being sold by you,” he lamented.

Meanwhile, the suspects have been handed over to the police while investigation continues.
