The country president of United-Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC), and a former female presidential candidate, Prof Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, has congratulated
Kemi Badenoch on her appointment as the leader of the opposition and leader of the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom.
” We celebrate you at United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre for your accomplishments, also as a woman, thanking God for you. We look forward to your continued impact on British politics,” Adesanya – Davies said in a statement.
She added:” The North West Essex MP Ms. Kemi Badenoch has won the popular vote among the Conservative Party members – beating Robert Jenrick to be the next leader of the opposition.
” It is worthy of note that Ms Olukemi Badenoch was born in Wimbledon, London, to Nigerian parents. Kemi’s achievements are a testament to her vision, dedication and perseverance.
” She’s had an impressive career, serving in the cabinet under Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak from 2022 to 2024, and previously as under secretary of State for Children and Families, exchequer secretary to the treasury, and minister of State for Equalities.
“The 44-year-old North West Essex MP has been declared the winner of the months-long contest, beating Robert Jenrick. Ms Badenoch received 53,806 votes to Mr Jenrick’s 41,388.”
Adesanya – Davies recalled that Badenoch’s journey into politics began when she joined the Conservative Party at 25, adding that she contested for various positions, including the London Assembly and Parliament, before becoming the MP for Saffron Walden in 2017.
“Her determination and resilience in the face of challenges make her an inspiration to many, especially the female folks.
” As the first black person to hold these offices, it’s remarkable that you’re breaking barriers and paving the way for future generations in the United Kingdom (UK) as a Nigerian, and we’re proud of you,” the university teacher said.
