Pursuant to the effective implementation of local government autonomy , the Bauchi State government has prepared two draft laws to guide its implementation in the state.

The secretary to the state government (SSG), Alhaji Aminu Hammayo, dropped this hint in Bauchi after a stakeholders’ meeting on the matter where inputs were received, discussed and synchronised.

Aminu Hammayo, while briefing the press on the outcome of the meeting, gave the draft laws as Law for Local Government Administration 2025 and Law for Economic Planning of the State, as products of the stakeholders’ meeting.

He said, “What is important is the fact that His Excellency has opened up the issue for discussions, and we have received a lot of inputs from various perspectives, which included perspectives of local government chairmen as operators of the local government councils.”

Hammayo also said there were perspectives from members of the House of Assembly who are basically responsible for laws governing the administration of local governments.

The SSG similarly mentioned inputs from members of the State Executive Council who he said also worked with the local governments and the House of Assembly.

He assured that the two bills would in a couple of days be presented to the legislature for  consideration.
