Foundation Provides Succour For 60 Widows In Abia

The Obicare Charity Foundation has distributed food items, wrappers and various sums of money to 60 widows in Ohafia clan in Ohafia local government area of Abia State.

At the event in his country home in Asaga Ohafia, the founder of the foundation, Obinna Odum, urged the widows not to allow the challenges of their status overwhelm them.

Odum said the gesture was part of the foundation’s numerous programmes to give the widows a sense of belonging and assured them of better days ahead.

He explained that the foundation was also engaged in skills acquisition and youth empowerment programmes, and donation of educational materials to pupils in the area.

Odum, who is the director general of Greater Ohafia Development Authority, noted that recently, the foundation constructed a drainage and a culvert in the community.

In a homily, Rev Sam Kalu of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, admonished the widows not to be downcast by their fate but to have their trust and hope in God.

He commended the director general for not only remembering the widows, but also thinking about how to give the pupils and the youths hope for a brighter future.

Responding on behalf of the widows, Oyidiya Kalu Aso from Amuke community, lauded Odum for the foundation’s kind gestures and prayed for his well-being and that of his family.
