Industrial Park: Kwara Govt Compensates Land Owners, Farmers With N500m

Kwara State government has compensated over 1,000 customary land owners, land purchasers and farmers whose lands were acquired for the extension of the ongoing Industrial Park in Eyenkorin, along Ilorin-Ogbomoso Road with N500 million.

The executive chairman of Kwara State Geographic Information Service (KWGIS), AbdulKareem Suleyman, said that the payment of the compensation should not be interpreted as if the government was buying the acquired 2,100 hectares of the land.

Suleyman clarified that the compensation was paid in line with constitutional provisions to extinguish subsisting rights on the acquired land.

He said the acquired land spanned 15 communities in Asa local government area of the state.

He added that the compensation was to settle affected claims, improvements and interests for the beneficiaries in fulfilling the legal requirements for public acquisition.

Suleyman stated that the industrial park project was designed to improve the agricultural, industrial and economic developments of the state and the host communities, stressing that the project was in accordance with the developmental strides of the state government.

 

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Aare Ogele, Alh Ishola Akanbi, thanked the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his kind gesture, assuring him of the continued support of the people of the area for his administration.
