Three persons have been burnt to death after a passenger bus conveying day-old chicks collided with a truck loaded with sacks around the Oko-Olowo axis of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The accident reportedly occurred around midnight on Thursday when the bus and the truck collided, triggering a fire that engulfed the passenger vehicle and trapped its three occupants.
Sources said the crash happened when the truck, which was travelling from the Shao direction, attempted to make a U-turn towards Oko-Olowo and was rammed into by the passenger bus coming from Lagos.
The impact of the collision reportedly sparked the fire, leaving all three occupants of the bus burnt to death.
An eyewitness said officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) arrived at the scene early on Friday morning to evacuate the remains of the victims.
When contacted, the Kwara State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Kabiru Kazeem, confirmed the accident to LEADERSHIP on Friday.
He promised to provide further details about the incident but had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.
