Sources also disclosed to LEADERSHIP that more people are expected to resign in the coming weeks without giving reasons for the impending resignations.

Duke uploaded a copy of the resignation letter which was received at the State party office to his Facebook page on Friday.

“Let’s speak for the people, done speaking for the APC! A new dawn beckons!! Happy valentine my people! I’m Cajethan Duke,” he wrote.

In the resignation letter dated February 14th, 2025 and addressed to the APC State Chairman, Duke thanked the party for the opportunity to serve, saying the resignation was with immediate effect.

The letter read, “Please accept this letter as a formal notice of my resignation from the position of State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, Imo State effective, Friday February 14, 2025.

“After due consultation with my family and political associates, I have decided to focus more on the broader interest of the people instead of partisan sentiments.

“I appreciate the relationships we have built and the opportunities I’ve had while serving the party. I thank the leadership and the entire members of the party for their support and trust.

“I remain eternally grateful for the experience gained while serving,” Duke said in the resignation letter.

Already, a former Legal Adviser to the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Imo State chapter, Barrister Kissinger Ikeokwu took to his Facebook verified page to express his opinion.

While he described Duke as a gentleman, Ikeokwu said the former APC spokesman and his colleagues were relegated in their party.

Ikeokwu wrote, “The treatment meted out on Cajethan Duke, who has served APC dutifully as its State Publicity Secretary is one thing I cannot understand.

“Duke Cajethan is not close to me in anyway. While you served in APC, he was a big rival. But you cannot help but appreciate this quintessential gentleman. Duke is one man who looking at his disposition, meekness, style of presentation, you will be tempted to join APC against your wish.

“It is sad that even as a member of the Imo APC State Working Committee, he and his colleagues have been relegated to the background and treated as nonexistent.

“The State Chairman Chief MacDonald Ebere did little or nothing to fight for his colleagues at the Imo APC SWC.

“I respect men like Duke Cajethan. How can someone work for a ruling party on an 8 years coasting without any form or recognition? I respect you my man Cajetan Duke”.
