Heat: Relief As Ilorin Records First Rain In 2025

Residents of Ilorin, Kwara State capital, have heaved a sigh of relief from the torment of excessive heat as the capital city recorded its first rain on Saturday.

The downpour, which occurred on Saturday night spread across Ilorin metropolis, heralded cool breeze up till Sunday morning.

LEADERSHIP had recently published an exclusive story on how excessive heat was making life uncomfortable for the residents of Ilorin.

Our correspondent reports that the excessive heat coupled with epileptic power supply is forcing some of the residents of Ilorin metropolis, especially those in the downtown to find open spaces in their house to sleep at night.

LEADERSHIP observed that most residents of the capital city sleep in the open spaces in their houses till midnight to enjoy some fresh air before moving into their rooms.

Some residents who spoke with LEADERSHIP in Ilorin on Sunday expressed relief over the first rainfall recorded in 2025.

A resident, Alh Shina Adanla said, “We thank God for giving us the first rain on Saturday. Most residents experienced deep and joyous sleep yesterday. The rain has doused the excessive heat we had been experiencing.”

Another resident, Alhaja Mulika Sulaiman, expressed joy over the first rain recorded in Ilorin metropolis this year.
