The executive director of Sarkin Shanu Foundation for Youth and Community Development, Dr Abubakar Muhammad Sani Bello (Sarkin Shanun Yamaltu), also known as Sarkin Dajin Akko & Funakaye, Dan Moyin Pindiga, and Ardon Yariman Gombe, has applauded Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his unwavering commitment to improving healthcare services in the state and upgrading General Hospital Kumo to a Federal Medical Centre (FMC).

He commended Governor Yahaya’s strategic leadership and dedication to healthcare advancement, noting that this transformation will significantly enhance medical services in Gombe State and the North East region.

He described the development as a major milestone in healthcare delivery, aligning with the state government’s vision and the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda to strengthen the health sector.

“This upgrade will provide access to better medical facilities, specialised care, and improved training opportunities for healthcare professionals.

It is a step in the right direction towards reducing maternal and neonatal mortality and improving overall health indices in the region,” Dr Bello stated.

He congratulated the people of Akko Emirate, Akko local government area, and the entire Gombe State on this achievement, emphasising that converting the 200-bed-capacity ultramodern hospital into a Federal Medical Centre will benefit the community immensely.

Dr Bello also acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to healthcare development and the support of the coordinating minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Mohammed Ali Pate, in facilitating the process.

He noted that the approval reflects the federal government’s recognition of Governor Yahaya’s efforts to revitalise the healthcare sector and ensure quality medical services for the people.

He further assured that the Sarkin Shanu Foundation for Youth and Community Development remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote health and community well-being in Gombe State.

“This is a significant achievement for our state, and we must collectively work to ensure that the people fully benefit from the improved healthcare services that the new FMC Kumo will provide,” Dr Bello concluded.
