As Nigeria marks the National Service Compact (Servicom), the permanent secretary of the State House Tijani Umar and the deputy chief of staff to the president Ade Ipaye have urged the civil servants to be efficient in their service.

Speaking at the State House Ministerial Servicom (MSC) Symposium to commemorate the 2022 Customer Service Week, yesterday at the State House Auditorium in Abuja, Umar told them to work in line with the rules of engagement.

The permanent secretary and the deputy chief of staff were honoured for their support and enhancement of Servicom in the State House.

The symposium with the theme, “Importance of Efficient Service Delivery for Economic Growth,” was aimed at assessing the performance of the staff to the development of their place of work and the nation.

According to him, service providers must engage professionally and if you do well you will be appreciated and rewarded.

The permanent secretary who chaired the 2022 Customer Service Week, expressed joy that a staff of the State House was awarded by the Servicom national coordinator, Nnenna Akajemeli, saying, “it’s good for the State House.” According to Umar, feedback is key to knowing what is happening.

“When I came in as the permanent secretary, the Transport Unit was the first I took for training and provided all that was needed to improve service delivery because it is important for us all.  The vehicles need to be in good shape to work and we trained our drivers in several batches. For us to participate in the service generally, we must establish an automatic system,” he said.

The deputy chief of staff cautioned them about the breach of rules because the people want to derive favour from a customer, warning them not to waive what they do not have the power to waive.

The national coordinator of Servicom, Mrs Akajemeli who lauded the support of the permanent secretary, was represented at the event.
