Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested a man allegedly found with a firearm within the premises of a church in Bokkos local government area of the state.
The NSCDC operatives’ eagle eyes averted what could have been a dark Easter Sunday in the area.
The suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed, was apprehended on Sunday morning at about 8:30 a.m. during a routine patrol by NSCDC operatives around the church compound.
Our correspondent reports that some communities in Bokkos were recently attacked by gunmen, leading to the death of several persons.
It was further gathered that the suspect could not provide any satisfactory explanation or legal documentation for the gun in his possession.
Meanwhile, spokesperson of the Plateau State Civil Defence Command ASP NR Rimvyok
confirmed the man’s arrest in a phone conversation with our correspondent in Jos.
According to him, the investigation is ongoing to ascertain his motive.
