Drela Set To Drench Music Scene With New Album ‘Rain’

Emerging from the vibrant cultural tapestry of Lagos, Nigeria, R&B and Afrobeats sensation Drela has announced the forthcoming release of his eagerly awaited album, “Rain.

The new body of work promises to further establish the artist as a compelling storyteller, blending soulful melodies with infectious rhythms that speak to a global audience.

Born Mohammed Salisu, Drela has garnered attention for his unique sound that encapsulates the narratives of youth, love, and pressing social issues, all infused with the energetic pulse of contemporary African life.

The album is set to hit all major streaming platforms on May 7, 2025.

His latest offering, “Rain,” marks a significant evolution in his artistry, inviting listeners on a journey through what he describes as “Melodies Never Heard Before.”

Drela’s music transcends mere auditory experience; it is an immersive journey.

Renowned for his electrifying stage presence and genuine charisma, he has mesmerised audiences worldwide, cultivating a devoted fan base that eagerly anticipates each release.

The “Rain” EP comprises six tracks, each narrating a distinct story while showcasing Drela’s versatility. Among the standout tracks is “Black Is Beautiful,” an empowering anthem that celebrates the beauty and strength of Black identity, set against an uplifting and rhythmic backdrop. The trilingual track “Pay Me My Money”—delivered in English, Yoruba, and Korean—serves as a raw testament to ambition and survival, echoing the struggles many face in their pursuit of justice and recognition.

 

Further exploring the intricacies of love, “Love Cycle” delves into the complexities of relationships with smooth melodies and heartfelt lyrics. The title track, “Rain,” embodies themes of cleansing and renewal, inviting listeners to wash away past troubles and embrace new beginnings through its soothing melodies. Meanwhile, “Forgive Me” offers a poignant reflection on seeking redemption, while “I Miss You” delivers a soulful ballad that evokes the universal nostalgia of longing for someone dear.
