A member of the Kano State House of Assembly representing Sumaila constituency, Hon. Zubairu Hamza Masu, has dumped the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Masu, in a resignation letter addressed to the speaker of the house, RT hon Ismail Falgore, cited party fractionalisation and litigation rocking the NNPP as his major reason for leaving the party.
The speaker who read the letter on the floor of the House during Monday’s plenary announced Masu’s resignation effective from May 12, 2025, where he pledged his total loyalty to the APC leadership at the ward, state, and national levels.
The resigning member further explained that several individuals from both the state and national level are claiming leadership positions within the NNPP – Dr. Suleiman Hashim Dungurawa and senator Mas’ud El-Jibrin Doguwa (at state level chairmen), while Dr. Ahmed Ajuji and Dr. Agbo Major claiming chairmanship at national level with serious litigations in the court that suffocate the party.
“Serious litigation in the court of law that suffocate NNPP include suit number FCT, involving the Nigerian Peoples Party and 20 other corps; Suit between the Nigerian People’s Party versus the Independent National Electoral Commission and suit involving Chukwemeku Okoro versus others.”
