The Delta State government has emphasised that the peaceful coexistence between host communities and oil operators is critical to sustaining Delta’s status as the leading oil-producing state in Nigeria.

It has therefore taken decisive steps to resolve lingering disputes between oil-producing communities and oil companies operating across the state.

The State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Hon. Peter Uviejitobor, made this known during a mediation meeting in his Asaba office. The meeting brought together stakeholders from host communities and representatives of oil companies.

Uviejitobor stressed that under the current administration’s M.O.R.E. Agenda, the government is committed to promoting peace, security, and a business-friendly environment that attracts investments and fosters development.

“The government will not tolerate any disruption to oil production. At the same time, no oil company will be allowed to oppress its host communities. Peace and mutual respect are non-negotiable.”

According to the commissioner, it aimed to foster lasting peace and drive economic growth in the state
