The chiefs and kingmakers in Ketu, Epe, in Epe local government area of Lagos State, have declared Akeem Oluwo as the king-elect for the stool of Alaketu of Ketu.
Addressing journalists yesterday at the palace of Alaketu of Ketu at a gathering attended by the chiefs, the kingmakers and the heads of each ruling house in the community, the kingmakers said the essence of the gathering was to affirm that the entire community is in support of the choice of Oluwo as the monarch-elect.
According to the history of the community, the founder of the community is Oshokeji Ateshimara who gave birth to a son, Ademiniran, shortened as Adeniran who married two wives the first from Ijasi in Ijebu Ode who had three children, Efunderu, Adeona, Otunjeru, while the second wife from Ilese near Ijebu Ode gave birth to Ogunberu.
Speaking on behalf of the kingmakers, Alhaji Lukman Anjorin noted that, the entitlement of which lineage produces the next monarch is rotated among the four grandchildren of Osokeji.
He maintained that the last king was from Efunderu lineage so the next lineage to produce the king is Adeona and Akeem Oluwo was picked from that lineage.
Anjorin said that apart from picking him from the lineage, Ifa Oracle was consulted and the Ifa divination approved that he is the right choice and his tenure would usher in good things for the community.
He explained that before he was chosen as the monarch-elect, an announcement was made to those interested in the stool to file in their application and it was only Oluwo that submitted an application from the lineage the stool is zoned to.
