Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has said that his administration is prioritising youth development so that young people can become active contributors to the state’s development and progress.

He said the government’s programmes and policies are being supported by action to enhance the development and empowerment of Ekiti youths.

He spoke yesterday in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, at the launch of the Digital Accelerated Programme (EDAP), which will train 1000 Ekiti youths in Information and Communication Technology, powered by the Ministry of Youth Development, in collaboration with Motivar.

The governor, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Niyi Adebayo, said this underscores organising the ICT programmes, designed to train young people between the ages of 15 and 20 on basic computing skills and for them to be computer literate.

He said, “This is not just requiring them to contribute; it starts with us working with them to put them in a position to make that contribution.

“We are putting action behind our words to make a designed programme that will help our young ones to not only feel included but to actively participate in the Ekiti project so that together, we can take Ekiti to greater heights”.

Adebayo, who stated that his principal is solidly behind programmes that are targeted at helping the youth develop, said, “This programme addresses two components of one of the key pillars of the governor’s six-pillar agenda towards shared prosperity in Ekiti state, which is youth development and job creation. “
