YPP Deputy Guber Candidate, PDP Lawmaker Defect To LP

Young Progressives Party (YPP) 2023 deputy governorship candidate in Abia State, Chima Anyaso, has defected to Labour Party (LP), donating two branded coaster buses for Governor Alex Otti’s 2027 reelection campaign.

This was just as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member representing Bende North constituency, Nnamdi Ibekwe, alongside his supporters, and Okey Ezeala of All Progressives Congress (APC) also opted for the LP.

The defectors were formally received into the LP during the official inauguration of the Bende local government area chapter of Abia Arise Movement, the governor’s political structure at Uzuakoli last on Friday.

Speaking at the event, the governor explained that the movement is more than a political platform, describing it as a non-partisan vehicle for grassroots mobilisation and leadership development.

He said his era had created opportunities for the residents to achieve personal growth and self-actualisation through significant investments in infrastructure, social services, and other critical sectors.

According to him, “Our administration has shown that governance is about service, responding to public concerns and deploying public funds to uplift the people.

“We are deliberately investing in infrastructure that closes the gap between rural and urban communities and eliminates the push factors for rural-urban migration.

“The residents are happy not just because of handouts, but because they believe the government now consistently makes the right decisions”, he added, welcoming the new LP members.

Earlier, Anyaso commended the governor for “his purposeful and people oriented leadership”, which he said had rekindled hope among the residents.

Declaring “total support for Otti’s rebuilding agenda,” he announced his formal resignation from the YPP and pledged allegiance to the governor and the movement.
