President Bola Tinubu will visit Nasarawa State today, Wednesday, to commission key projects completed by Governor Abdullahi Sule in the state.
On Tuesday, the governor paid an inspection tour of designated projects earmarked for commissioning ahead of the visit.
The projects include the Lafia flyover and underpass, dualised Shandam road, and the state secretariat complex.
In May, Governor Sule declared the N16 billion flyover and underpass project completed and opened a section for motorists’ use.
Our correspondent observed that the street lights along the Lafia-Jos road were being replaced and repainted.
Briefing journalists about the visit, the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Ibrahim Tanko, said everything has been put in place for the visit.
The commissioner urged all residents to welcome the president, while calling on everyone to behave well during the visit.
“The president will be received at the Usman Dan Fodio Airport in Lafia and will proceed to commission the/overhead Lafia bridge. After this, the president will pay homage to the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage, rtd, at his palace.”
He said the president would commission tractors lined up for farmers’ use and the Shendam dual carriageway, followed by the ultra-modern state secretariat complex.
He said there would also be a town hall meeting with stakeholders at the Aliyu Akwe Doma banquet hall, the government house along Shendam road.
“You can see that work is going on seriously in Lafia, the state capital, and other significant towns, which shows the significance of this visit.
“People across all the 13 local government areas of the state are pleased, ready and waiting for the day to give the president a good reception,” he said.
