Armed policemen, on Monday morning, laid siege to the Wadata Plaza national secretariat of the major opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
LEADERSHIP reports that PDP had slated Monday, June 30, 2025 for its much-talked-about National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BoT) meetings.
BoT members, who were supposed to meet earlier, were turned back by armed policemen.
However, speaking on the development, the immediate-past national secretary of PDP, Senator Umar Tsauri, said that the BoT meeting was disrupted by an ‘order from above’ as stated by the police personnel led by a DPO.
The BoT members had started gathering for the meeting at the party’s NEC Hall when the policemen, who were stationed at the party secretariat, asked them to leave.
Tsauri, a BoT member, said the policemen told them that there was an order from above for the BoT meeting to be stopped.
He said the DPO declined to reveal who gave the order from the top.
“Since they have stopped the BoT meeting. There is a DPO there waiting. I am an unrepentant PDP member. I came for this meeting, and wherever the PDP calls a meeting, I will go,” he told newsmen at the party secretariat.
