The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) under the stewardship of the Comptroller General Bashir Adeniyi has been applauded for institutional reforms and revenue growth tied to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The commendation is coming from the Coalition of Civil Society Networks in a press statement signed by its Coordinator, Amb Abdullahi Ibrahim during a press conference over the weekend.
The statement reads; “We wish to commend the leadership of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) under the stewardship of the Comptroller General for the significant strides made in revenue generation, institutional reforms, and contribution to national economic growth. These achievements align perfectly with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, particularly in his drive to reposition key institutions to foster innovation, prosperity, and economic stability.
“In particular, we celebrate the milestone revenue performance recorded which generated a remarkable ₦747.08 billion in the first half of 2025. This represents a 29.85% increase compared to the ₦575.36 billion generated in the same period in 2024, and accounts for an outstanding 98.03% of the command’s projected revenue target. This level of performance reflects the impact of reforms being executed by the Service.
“We commend the Comptroller General of Customs for prioritizing technical competence over personal interest and for deploying officers with the highest level of professionalism to strategic revenue points. This strategy has helped to block leakages, curb economic sabotage, and significantly improve the business-friendly environment at the nation’s ports.
The Coalition said these developments are in line with its advocacy for responsible governance, and encouraged the Customs Service to sustain the momentum.
“We also call on other government agencies to emulate this example by putting national interest above all else. As a group, we remain committed to monitoring, supporting, and constructively engaging institutions in their quest for good governance and service delivery.”
