Arewa Think-Tank Faults Kwankwaso On North’s Projects Under Tinubu

Northern socio-political group, Arewa Think Tank (ATT), has faulted former Kano State governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on comments alleging that President Bola Tinubu’s administration was marginalising the North in terms of infrastructure development.

Kwankwaso had claimed that President Tinubu was concentrating development efforts in the southern region while neglecting the North, a claim ATT described as divisive and misleading.
Convener of ATT, Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, in a statement issued in Kaduna yesterdy, said Kwankwaso’s remarks were politically motivated and aimed at stirring ethnic sentiment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“Arewa Think Tank will not support any divisive statement along ethnic, religious, or regional lines. Why didn’t Kwankwaso speak out during previous administrations when infrastructure deficits in the North were glaring?” Yakubu queried.

He warned the former governor against resorting to what he called “dirty regional politicking,” saying such tactics would not help him gain national support.

“This attitude is counterproductive and harmful to national unity,” he added.

Yakubu noted that Tinubu’s administration, alongside a Northern vice president, was already implementing key infrastructure projects in the North, citing the Kano River irrigation project which became operational under the current administration.

Yakubu urged all leaders to promote unity and development with evidence-based discourse rather than emotional appeals, stressing that national progress must override ethnic sentiment.
