Amid growing quest for a formidable opposition in Niger State, All Progressives Congress (APC), stakeholders in Niger South Senatorial District have endorsed Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 election.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the opposition coalition movement has been penetrating the state as some stakeholders in Niger South are considering aligning with the movement.
So far, a former member of the House of Representative for Agaie and Lapai federal constituency Mahmud Abdullahi Dere has resigned from APC and joined ADC.
It was learnt that moves are on to poach more displeased PDP members and aggrieved APC members who worked for the party in 2023 but were neither patronised nor given political appointments.
Consequently, the governor visited the zone to commission a multimillion Naira Shea butter factory in Kudu and held a stakeholders meeting with the three federal constituencies in the zone at the weekend in Bida, governor in Bida, held a special interactive session with each of the federal constituencies in the Senatorial District Where Party stalwarts who spoke on behalf of their respective Federal Constituencies in the Niger South claimed that the achievements recorded by the governor so far were unmatched; and therefore deserved a second term in office.
The key speaker at the meeting was a governorship aspirant in 2023 and one of the leaders of North Central Forum Engineer Sani Ndanusa who lauded the stewardship of the governor.
Bago appreciated the APC Stakeholders of Niger South Senatorial District for the endorsement and reassured his administration’s commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy to the people, especially through the Ward Development Project, an initiative he added would ensure grassroots development.
