Niger State governor, Umaru Bago, has called for a deeper collaboration with traditional institutions in the state to address insecurity in parts of the state.
The governor made the call when he paid homage to the Sarkin Sudan of Kontagora at his palace in Kontagora.
He expressed concern over the insecurity that is bedevilling the people of the Emirate, noting that concerted efforts of both government and traditional institutions would help in addressing the situation.
He said the traditional institutions are expected to account for the people in their domains, advising them to take proactive measures that would curtail the menace while assuring them of his continued support and collaboration.
The Madawakin Kontagora, Alh. Aminu Ahmad, who spoke on behalf of the emirate council, appreciated the governor and his entourage for the visit and pledged their continued support to his administration.
The chairman council of Ulamas, Khalifa Sabiu Umar, commended the governor for his developmental strides, concern for the welfare and well-being of the residents of the state,as well support for religious activities that has helped to promote peaceful coexistence.
He assured the governor of their unalloyed support and continuous prayer for the success of his administration.
