The founder of Ibadan-based Agidigbo 88.7 FM, Oriyomi Hamzat, has tendered a public apology to Nigerian singer, Azeez Fashola, popularly called Naira Marley, and lifted the ban earlier placed on songs from Marlian Records on the radio station.

Hamzat announced the decision on Tuesday during a broadcast on his radio station based in Ibadan, Oyo State, about two years after banning Marley’s songs following the death of former Marlian Records signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

LEADERSHIP recalls that Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, after which netizens accused Marley of being complicit in the singer’s demise, leading to a total blackout of Marlian tracks on Agidigbo FM since 2024.

However, following the latest discoveries and official pronouncement about Mohbad’s death, Hamzat expressed regret over his earlier stance, admitting he had wrongly judged Naira Marley.

He added that Agidigbo FM would henceforth resume playing Malian Record songs.

“I am very sorry for all my provocative statements or words to Naira Marley. And now at the Agidigbo radio station, we have lifted our legs up to march Satan and overcome obstacles.

“From today onward, I am raising the ban that was placed on the singer’s tracks at Agidigbo FM. We can now be playing Naira Marley songs at our radio station,” the broadcaster declared.

To buttress his public apology, Hamzat immediately directed the station to play Naira Marley’s hit track ‘Tesumole’.
