In commemoration of the 2025 World Humanitarian Day, the Bauchi State government has rewarded five exceptional individuals for their selfless service to humanity and community development.
At a ceremony, the commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajara Wanka, commended the honourees for their unwavering dedication to serving their communities.
She said the awards were meant to spotlight the sacrifices made by ordinary citizens who have become pillars of hope in their localities.
Our correspondent reports that two of the five awardees were identified through a popular radio programme, Zuwa Da Kai Yafi Sako, which promotes grassroots humanitarian efforts.
Topping the list was the Ward Head of Gwallaga, Dan’dada Ahmadu, for his decades-long contributions to community development. He received N1 million and an Award of Excellence.
Other awardees, including Mallam Isah Ladan Bagali, Babangida Pelun Abba, Idris Mohammed and Abdullahi Bayan Nitel, went home with accolades and N700,000, N500,000, N250,000 and N200,000 cash respectively.
Wanka urged the recipients to remain committed and continue aligning their efforts with the vision of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed’s administration to uplift the lives of vulnerable citizens.
