The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has mandated that three clubs—Kano Pillars, Barau FC, and Abia Warriors—implement significant upgrades to their home stadiums.

Kano Pillars and Barau FC share the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, while Abia Warriors play their home matches at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

The league body highlighted the necessity for improvements to both the playing surfaces and the changing facilities at these key venues. Specifically, the league’s directive calls for enhancements to the pitches, which are crucial for player safety and performance. Additionally, upgrades to the dressing rooms are required to ensure that they meet modern standards of comfort and functionality for players and coaching staff.

In a bid to further bolster the matchday experience, the NPFL has also insisted on the refurbishment of the technical benches and floodlights at both stadiums. The league’s commitment to improving infrastructure is aimed at elevating the overall quality of football in Nigeria, as well as providing fans with a better viewing experience.

The league has made it clear that clubs failing to comply with these directives risk being compelled to relocate their home games to neutral venues, a measure intended to encourage prompt action on the necessary improvements.
