“The campaign seeks to beautify the state, reduce the impact of erosion, and foster a healthier environment for residents,” he said.

The governor hinted that the government is working to keep the state clean, adding that waste bins have been distributed to all 13 LGAs.

He said that when poorly managed waste is organised through a climate-smart approach, it can be converted and used for agricultural purposes and power generation, which can lead to economic prosperity.

On the traffic congestion in Karu, the governor said the government had requested ing from the federal government to construct alternative routes in Mararraba, Gitata, Gurku, and a flyover/underpass to curtail the menace.

The Environment and Natural Resources commissioner, Margaret Elayo, charged the residents to support the government in preserving the environment and keeping it clean to guard against diseases and disasters.

She attributed environmental challenges in most communities to improper waste management, adding that this could lead to climate change and desertification.

The Esu Karu, Luka Panya-Baba and chairman of Karu LGA, Abubakar Madaki, complained that the blockade of the roads in Old Karu and Rugan Madaki was causing untold hardships to motorists and worsening the traffic challenges in the area.
