The leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ebonyi State, other coalition groups, and the Labour Party (LP) have disagreed over their alleged involvement in the recent stakeholders’ meeting in Abakaliki, the state capital.

The party’s state chairman, Dr. Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor, said the coalition members include the PDP, Labour Party, APGA and the ruling APC, among others.

Adibe-Nwafor boasted that with the coalition, the party will win the governorship, National and State House of Assembly seats in the 2027 general election with over 3 million votes in the state.

She said the party has begun its membership drive, saying the coalition movement is for a better Nigeria.

Dr. Adibe-Nwafor, called for massive registration of members from the grassroots level, stating that such move would create strong platform ahead of the 2027 elections.

She noted that the coalition movement was a good sign of building a prosperous Ebonyi and Nigeria at large.

“I urge our partners to join us in this noble endeavor. Register with ADC and become part of the change we seek.

Together, we can achieve greatness.

“Register and join our party and become part of the movement for change. Participate in our activities, engage with our leaders, attend our meetings, and contribute to our discussions and Spread the good word,” she added.

Mr Linus Okorie, Labour Party senatorial candidate in the 2023 general elections, noted that the coalition movement is for a better Nigeria and Ebonyi.

Okorie, who represented the Ohaozara, Onicha, and Ivo federal constituency in the National Assembly, urged all members and partners to remain focused.

Mr Silas Onu, former PDP chairman in the state, decried the high level of hunger in the state and added that the ADC coalition would bring change for Nigerians.

But in a swift reaction, the Labour Party in the state denied involvement in the recent meeting and urged the general public to ignore the claim by some political attention seekers.

Comrade Eze Oko Splendour, 2023 LP gubernatorial candidate Ebonyi State said the Labour Party is not involved in the ADC coalition meeting held at the weekend.

“The meeting is another branch of APC in disguise. It is simply the more you look, the less you see game of Ebonyi State APC. Labour Party Ebonyi State hereby distances herself from such shenanigans!

“We hereby call on all our party members across the 13 LGAs in Ebonyi State to disregard and disassociate themselves from such APC controlled gathering called Coalition. We are committed to following our principal His Excellency Peter Obi who has repeatedly told us that he is still a member of Labour Party.”

Meanwhile, Chief Stanley Emegha, the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, said that the party is not threatened by meetings organised by individuals seeking financial gains.

He maintained that the state governor Francis Nwifuru has done so much in the state and called on members of the coalition to join hands with the present administration to move the state to an enviable height.
