Chief of Special Services and Programmes (Army), Major General Jamal Abdulsalam, has said the welfare of soldiers remains the top priority of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede.

Abdulsalam stated this yesterday while speaking to newsmen after inaugurating the newly completed transit accommodation for the staff of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) at Bori Camp, Port Harcourt.

“The welfare of soldiers has never been as good as it is now since the establishment of the Nigerian Army because so many welfare packages of the soldiers have been tackled. The ration cash allowance of soldiers have been doubled since the Chief of Army Staff came in.

In his welcome speech, the General Officer Commanding, 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Emekah, said the transit accommodation stands as tangible evidence of continuity, growth, and shared commitment to the well-being of the Nigerian Army personnel.

Emekah said: “Today’s event is particularly significant as it not only consolidates on the laudable achievements recorded under your command, but also reflects the drive to align with the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy, particularly as it relates to troops’ welfare and the provision of befitting living and working conditions.

“The projects we are commissioning today stand as tangible evidence of continuity, growth, and shared commitment to the well-being of our personnel.”
