The prolonged legal battle between the royal majesties dates back to 2016 with series of injunctions, judgments, appeals and cross appeals, lasting for almost a decade.

While Asaba, represented by HRM, Prof Epiphany Azinge, Asagba of Asaba and Oko Kingdoms, represented by HRM Engr Osita Onwuka 1, Akor of Oko Kingdom, both in Oshimili local government area of the state, agreed to a ceasefire, the LG Boss said, “without an iota of doubt, I am the happiest person amongst us all.”

Addressing the two monarchs, palace chiefs and others on Friday in his office in Asaba, during the amicable reconciliation ceremony of the royal majesties, the LGA chairman stated that it is always best to open channels for honest conversations where grievances can be aired and solutions found together.

He said the route for the amicable resolution of the prolonged dispute between the royal majesties began during his first tenure as chairman, where he made promises during his campaigns to engage in the process of mediation, “which yielded little or no result but culminated in my second tenure with the end result of what we are witnessing today.”
