The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of an armed bandits syndicate and intensified security operations across the state.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the arrests were made during a coordinated operation conducted around 2 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, in the Farin Ruwa community of Shanono Local Government Area of the State.

“Acting on credible intelligence from members of the Farin Ruwa community in Shanono Local Government Area, combined operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad and Shanono Division, conducted a coordinated tactical operation on Friday, 24th October 2025, at approximately 0200hrs. During the operation, two suspects believed to be members of an armed bandits syndicate were successfully arrested,” the statement partly read.

According to the statement, the suspects were alleged to be collaborating with bandits attempting to infiltrate Kano State.

“The Command has launched a comprehensive investigation to uncover the extent of their activities and connections. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate and bring them to justice,” the statement said.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the vigilance and cooperation of the Farin Ruwa community, describing their intelligence sharing as crucial to the successful operation. He urged residents to remain alert and report any suspicious movements or activities in their areas.

In a related development, the Command said it has intensified efforts to address ongoing clashes between herders and farmers in Barebari Ward, Makoda LGA.

The statement noted that the Area Commander of Dambatta, ACP Mohammed Mani Gwarzo, had led several peace engagements in the area, culminating in a follow-up meeting held on Friday at the Command Headquarters, chaired by the Commissioner of Police.

“The meeting brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on sustainable measures to restore peace and prevent further escalations in the area,” SP Kiyawa said.
