Nigeria has once again been re-elected to the International Civil Aviation Organisation Public Key Directory Board for a sixth consecutive term, reaffirming the country’s strong leadership and credibility in global aviation security.

The re-election, according to a statement by the national spokesperson of the Nigeria Immigration Service ( NIS) , ACI AS Akinlabi, took place on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the 31st PKD Board Meeting in Montreal, Canada.

The statement explained that the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, led Nigeria’s delegation and secured the re-election through the country’s sustained contributions, shared implementation experiences, and innovations in public key infrastructure, electronic Machine-Readable Travel Document verification, and digital identity harmonisation.

The statement read partly; “Nigeria has been a member of the ICAO-PKD since 2009 and has consistently contributed to its strategic growth and modernisation. This renewed mandate recognises Nigeria’s technical competence, compliance, and commitment to ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices, placing the country among fifteen Board Members drawn from 107 participating States.

The re-election , according to the statement, reflects the Nigeria Immigration Service’s continued alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and underscores Nigeria’s dedication to fulfilling its international obligations.
