The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has distributed food items to support over 1,000 direct and 7,000 indirect beneficiaries for vulnerable families in the state.

Speaking with journalists at the SEMA office in Damaturu, the state capital, the executive secretary of the agency, Dr Mohammed Goje, said the agency was carrying out the massive distribution of food items to implement the festive support programme across selected communities in the state.

Goje explained that the intervention was designed to complement household food baskets, ease economic pressures on vulnerable families, and strengthen family unity during the festive period.

According to him, the initiative reflects Buni’s people-centred approach to governance and his commitment to ensuring that no segment of society is left behind, especially at significant moments of celebration.

He added that the seasonal support is about restoring hope and dignity to vulnerable households.

He noted that beneficiaries were carefully identified through community-based assessments to ensure transparency, fairness, and maximum impact, adding that the distribution will be carried out in an orderly and accountable manner.

Goje also reaffirmed SEMA’s resolve to continue partnering with relevant stakeholders to deliver timely humanitarian assistance, particularly to populations facing economic hardship and social vulnerability.
