Men of the Ekiti State Police Command have arrested 3,490 suspected criminals for various crimes in 2025.
The figure includes three persons, nabbed while planning to launch attacks on commercial banks in Ado Ekiti.
The commissioner of police in the State, Mr Joseph Eribo, who stated this, said the suspects apprehended across the state were investigated and prosecuted accordingly.
Eribo, who noted that the crime rate in Ekiti State reduced drastically in 2025 compared to 2024, said the breakthrough and achievements recorded in the year under review have kept the state peaceful and also guaranteed a safer environment for all and sundry.
The police commissioner spoke in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, on Tuesday during a media chat and end-of-the-year party with journalists in the state and officers of the command, where he decorated four newly promoted officers of the command.
Giving the breakdown of the cases recorded, he said, murder cases in 2024 were 53, while 37 were recorded in 2025, kidnapping cases were 17, while seven were recorded in 2925, Rape cases were 41 in 2024, while 31 were recorded in 2025.
Other cases include Cultism, 12 cases in 2024, while seven were recorded in 2025, House Breaking 82, while 65 cases were recorded in 2025, Armed Robbery 18 cases in 2024, while 7 case were recorded in 2025, Defilement 26 cases in 2024, while 24 cases were recorded in 2025 and Attempted Murder 26 cases were recorded in 2024 and 18 cases in 2025.
