Insecurity: Gov Eno Lauds Tinubu, Okays N140m For Army, Legionnaires

For tackling insecurity headlong, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has applauded the President Bola Tinubu-led central government. He noted that his investment in tackling security challenges was fast yielding the fruits of peace, ethno-political and religious harmony in the country.

Therefore, in support of the efforts to overcome the security challenges threatening the corporate existence of Nigeria, the governor donated N120 million as a morale booster for serving Nigerian military officers and men.

Besides, the governor announced the disbursement of additional N20 million for ex- service men who fought for one Nigeria with some having paid the supreme price.

 

At the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Uyo, the governor unveiled a new economic empowerment package for widows of fallen military, police, and paramilitary personnel.

“ Let me specially commend the President Bola Tinubu, for the decisive manner in which he is tackling the nation’s security challenges,” he declared, and urged the Nigerian military to rallied effectively round the President in his quest to see to the end of insecurity in the country.

“To the gallant officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security services, especially those serving in Akwa Ibom State, we celebrate and thank you for your dedicated service to our nation and our state,” he noted.

To cushion the effects of hardship on their families, the governor announced that “we will build 150 lock-up stores and provide take-off grants to the allottees to support sustainable livelihoods, moving beyond one-off assistance to long-term economic stability.”

“We also approved ₦120 million in immediate financial support for serving military officers and men, as well as ₦20 million for the Nigerian Legion.

“This is our way of honouring the sacrifice of our heroes and standing by the families they left behind. We will continue to support our security agencies and work for peace, unity, and a safe and secure Akwa Ibom State,” he assured.
