In a bid to curtail street roaming by almajiris, the Zamfara State government has introduced a feeding programme for them in 120 schools.

The special adviser, Islamic Affairs and Quranic Schools, Dr. Atiku Balarabe Zawuyya, said so far, almajiris in 120 schools would benefit from the gesture.

According to him, under the programme, food would be supplied to the school proprietors to cook for the pupils.

He said the supply of foodstuff to almajiris was to halt their movement on streets in search of food.

Zawuyya, therefore, urged the proprietors to use the foodstuff judiciously as anyone found wanting would face the consequences.
