President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Adamawa State on Monday, where he commissioned major infrastructure projects executed by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, is drawing online criticism after a woman was seen spraying naira notes during the event.

Tinubu had inaugurated a series of projects, including model schools across all 21 LGAs, modern sports complexes, an eight-lane underpass on Galadima Aminu Road, and newly remodelled Government House and high court facilities.

The event featured performances, including a popular set by Hausa singer Dauda Kahutu Rarara, who thrilled the crowd with Omo Ologo.

However, a brief incident shifted attention when a woman wearing the ruling-party attire approached the performance area and sprayed naira notes before being quickly cautioned by security personnel.

The act has reignited debate across social media, with many Nigerians citing Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act, which prohibits naira abuse.

The CBN’s Clean Note Policy also warns against spraying, squeezing, or trampling on currency.

The episode adds to recent high-profile enforcement actions. In 2024, cross-dresser Idris Olanrewaju (Bobrisky) was sentenced to six months in prison for naira abuse, while nightlife promoter Pascal Okechukwu (Cubana Chief Priest) faced similar charges and was granted ₦10 million bail. In 2023, actress Oluwadarasimi Omoseyin was arraigned after a video showed her dancing on naira notes.

Clips of the Adamawa incident are now circulating widely online, renewing calls for stricter enforcement and public education on handling the national currency.

End.
