As Christians observe Ash Wednesday and begin the Lenten season, President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has called on Nigerian Christian faithful to dedicate the period to prayer, reflection, and self-examination.

In a statement issued to journalists on Wednesday in Abuja through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, Akpabio urged Christians to embrace humility and repentance while remembering the fragility of life.

“As we dust ourselves with ashes, let us remember our mortality and the need for humility and repentance,” he said. “May this season be a time for introspection, forgiveness, and reconciliation, strengthening our bond with God and with one another.”

Akpabio also assured Nigerians that legislators would continue to enact laws that foster unity, peace, and understanding across the nation.

Extending greetings and blessings on behalf of his family, constituents, the Senate, and the 10th National Assembly, he added: “As Christians around the world observe Ash Wednesday, I extend warm greetings and blessings to all of you. May God bless and guide us all on this Ash Wednesday and throughout the Lenten season.”
