British Artiste Ghetts Sentenced To 12 Years For Hit-And-Run

A British rapper, Justin Clarke-Samuel, popularly known as Ghetts, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for killing a 20-year-old Nepali student in a London hit-and-run in 2025.

The rapper, 41, was said to have been under the influence of alcohol and speeding while he drove his BMW recklessly before the accident in October, prosecutors have noted.

Ghetts has also been banned from driving for 17 years by Judge Mark Lucraft, who said CCTV footage revealed “a quite appalling litany of incidents” resulting in a “simply shocking” deadly collision with student Yubin Tamang, who suffered serious injuries and died two days after the accident.

Ghetts pleaded guilty in London’s Central Criminal Court last December to causing death by dangerous driving.

The judge noted that the rapper had expressed remorse in a letter to the court.

“As you set out, you have done much to help others over the last 10 years and all that good work is marred by driving under the influence and taking the life of another young man,” the judge said.

Prosecutors said the rapper had been drinking alcohol at a bar in central London and drove his vehicle erratically at about 112 kilometres per hour before the collision.

They said Ghetts drove through six red lights and was on the wrong side of the road. Tamang was hit as he crossed the street, suffering fatal injuries, leading to his death.
