No fewer than 200,000 Yobe State residents have so far benefited from the free meals distributed by Kashim Musa Tumsah (KMT), a governorship hopeful.
The figure shows the number of Muslim faithful observing the ongoing Ramadan fast who have been served nutritious meals in the first half (15 days) of this year’s Ramadan at the designated feeding centres and mobile feeding schemes across the three Senatorial zones of the state.
The Ramadan feeding programme and welfare initiatives are part of KMT’s annual support, primarily aimed at those in need, orphans, and some households, helping them break their daily Ramadan fast with greater ease, peace of mind, and comfort.
A new innovation was also introduced into this year’s feeding programme, whereby some teams deliver to Sangaya-based Qur’anic schools, the elderly, and people who live far from the designated feeding centres so that they can also benefit.
KMT, widely recognised as a development advocate, has for decades engaged in various aspects of human growth and progress, including education, the economy, healthcare, the provision of solar-powered boreholes for safe, clean water, solar-powered street lighting, rural feeder roads, and schemes to empower women and youth.
These efforts complement government initiatives and encourage political officeholders to use their positions to deliver the essential dividends of democracy to the state.
Although KMT has not yet held any public office in the state, his human development initiatives over the years have garnered widespread support from the people, who have inundated him with calls to run for the Yobe governorship, making him the most popular aspirant in the APC and among other political parties in the state.
