Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have neutralised more than 80 terrorists following a fierce overnight battle in Mallam Fatori, Borno State.
The Joint Task Force (North East) reported that insurgents launched a coordinated five-pronged attack on the 68 Battalion location in Sector 3 during the early hours of Wednesday. The attackers advanced on foot and deployed armed drones, aiming to breach defensive positions along the Bravo Company frontage from the Duguri axis.
Troops, acting on prior intelligence, mounted a well-coordinated offensive-defensive response, engaging the insurgents with superior firepower and tactical manoeuvres. Air support from both the Nigerian Air Component of OPHK and allied Nigerien air assets provided precision strikes, further decimating the fleeing insurgents.
A battlefield sweep recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition, including dozens of AK-47 rifles, machine guns, RPG launchers, improvised explosive devices, and components of armed drones. Only four soldiers were wounded and have been stabilised.
Three senior terrorist commanders—Malam Abdulrahman Gobara, Malam Ba Yuram, and Abou Ayyuba—were killed alongside several other fighters. The military described the outcome as a major setback for insurgent operations, noting that eliminating key commanders will disrupt their command structure.
Troops remain in firm control of Mallam Fatori and surrounding areas, urging residents to stay vigilant and rely only on verified information as operations continue in the North-East.
