In a commanding display of cricket, Rwanda Women’s U-19 team secured a significant victory over Zimbabwe Women’s U-19 by 60 runs in Match 4 of the ongoing tournament. This win comes on the heels of Rwanda’s impressive performance against Ghana, showcasing their growing prowess in the sport.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Rwanda got off to a brisk start. The opening pair, Gisele Ishimwe and Fanny Utagushimaninde, set the tone with a rapid 32 runs in just 5.5 overs. However, Utagushimaninde struggled to find her rhythm and was dismissed for a mere 6 runs off 20 balls, marking the end of a promising start.

Despite the early loss, Rwanda maintained momentum, reaching 52 runs for the loss of 2 wickets within the first 10 overs. Gisele Ishimwe was the standout performer, scoring a well-crafted 40 runs off 32 balls before falling LBW in the 14th over, leaving the team at 75 runs. Clarisse Umutoniwase contributed with 19 runs, but her dismissal in the 16th over saw Rwanda at 94 runs.

Rwanda concluded their innings at 143 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs, setting a challenging target for the home side. Zimbabwe’s bowling attack saw Tawanayasha, Buhlebenkosi, Christina, and Tadiwa Garutsa each claim a wicket, but they struggled to contain the Rwandan batters.

In response, Zimbabwe’s innings got off to a rocky start. Beloved Biza scored a boundary off the first ball, but the excitement quickly faded as Nicollette Nyika was caught at point, leaving Zimbabwe at 5 runs for 1 wicket. The wickets tumbled rapidly, and by the end of the batting power play, Zimbabwe found themselves reeling at 32 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.

As the innings progressed, Zimbabwe continued to falter, reaching 59 runs with 7 wickets down. A late fightback from Christina Mutasa, who scored 41 runs off 27 balls, provided some hope, but it was not enough to salvage the innings. Zimbabwe was ultimately bowled out for 83 runs in
