Kwara Varsity Elevates 45 To Professorial Cadre

The Governing Council of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, has approved the promotion of 45 of its staff to the professorial cadre.

A statement by the acting director, University Relations, Prof Saeedat Aliyu, said the ratification was given at the 78th Regular Meeting of the Council, which held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

Twenty among the staff attained full professorship while 25 others were promoted to associate professorship.

The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences produced Professor Henry Olawale Sawyerr with specialisation in Environmental Health Toxicology and Risk Management while the Faculty of Agriculture produced three professors: Professor Olayinka Jelil Yusuf with specialisation in Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology; Professor Kayode Ayantoye with specialisation in Agricultural Development and Policy; and Professor Isaac Ade Afe, a specialist in Agronomy.

In the Faculty of Arts, four professors emerged. Professor Tajudeen Yusuf with specialisation in Arabic Linguistics; Professor Saeedat Bolajoko Aliyu with specialisation in Environment and Gender in African Studies; Professor Reuben Kehinde Akano with specialisation in African Literature and Cultural Studies, and Professor Ayoola Oladunke Aransi with specialisation in Yoruba Literature, Cultural and Gender Studies.

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology produced six professors. Professor Sikiru Ottan Abdulrahman, a specialist in Materials Development, Mining Operations, Machineries, Corrosion Phenomena; Professor Kabiru Mustapha, a specialist in Sustainable Composite Materials Development and Characterisation for Multifunction Engineering Applications; Professor Fadeyibi Adeshina, Post-Harvest Technology and Food Engineering; Professor Adeniyi Ganiyu Adeogun, specialist in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering; Professor Samson Odeyemi, a specialist in Structural and Materials Engineering, and Professor Lambe Mutalub Adesina, specialist in Electrical Power Systems, Control and Renewable Energy.

In the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, Professor Shehu Usman Adam, an Environmental Economics specialist and Professor Zekeri Abu, an Entrepreneurial Marketing and International Business specialist were elevated.

Four professors emerged from the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences. They are Professor Adeyinka Elizabeth Ajiboye and Professor Majekodunmi Rachael Adedayo, both of them specialists in Food/Industrial Microbiology; Professor Lukman Bola Abdulrauf, Analytical and Environmental Chemistry; and Professor Jimoh Ajadi, a specialist in Mineral Exploration/Geochemistry.

The new Associate Professors are Dr. Wasiu Awoyale (Food Processing and Storage Technology) in the Faculty of Agriculture, while from the Faculty of Arts, there are Dr. Hakeem Olawale (Yoruba Literature and Cultural Studies); Dr. Michael Olanrewaju Agboola (Drama: Theory and Criticism); Dr. Bamidele Olusegun Fawenu (Old Testament Interpretation and Eco-theology); Dr. Adesina Abiodun Olubitan (African Christian Theology and Interaction of Religions); and Dr. Peter Olanrewaju Awojobi (Biblical Studies, Christian Theology and African Christianity).

From the Faculty of Education are Dr. Adedayo Adesokan (Learning Disability) and Dr. Joshua Sule Mamman (Accounting Education).
Dr. Morakinyo Wasiu Kareem (Renewable Energy/ Fluid Engineering) and Dr. Mutiu Akinpelu (Structural and Materials Engineering) were elevated to Associate professorship in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.

Dr. Jumoke Falilat Ajao (Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence); Dr. Abdulsalam Olaniyi Sulaiman (Data Mining and Artificial Intelligence), and Dr. Akinbowale Nathaniel Babatunde (Artificial Intelligence and Information Security) are the newly promoted Associate Professors in the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology.

From the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, the new Associate Professors are Dr. Nurudeen Bello Ahmed (General Management), Dr. Ismaila Yusuf (Human Resource Management, General Management and Entrepreneurship), Dr. Lukman Adebayo-Oke Abdulrauf (Corporate Finance and Development Finance), Dr. Ahmed Oluwatobi Adekunle (Energy Finance and International Finance), and Dr. Musa Ilias Biala (Environment, Energy and Behavioural Economics), while from the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, the newly promoted Associate professors are Dr. Damilola Temitope Ogundele (Analytical/Environmental Chemistry), Dr. Wahab Adesina Osunniran (Inorganic- Bio-inorganic Chemistry), Dr. Gabriel Babatunde Egbeyale (Numerical Analysis), and Dr. Risqot Ibrahim-Garba (Algebra (Transformation of Semigroup and its Applications).
