President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s determination to defeat banditry and terrorism across the country, assuring Nigerians of increased investment in human capital.
Tinubu gave the assurance on Saturday while speaking at the commissioning of the Gateway International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State, alongside several other infrastructure projects.
“We will win over banditry and terrorism. I give you the assurance that we will invest more in our people,” the President declared.
He noted that the deployment of security vehicles at the event underscored his government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
“The development of additional vehicles is strengthening our resolve to protect lives and property,” he said.
Tinubu also commended Nigerian youths for their resilience and contributions to national development.
“Thank God for our youth. They are committed, brilliant and working hard. Nigeria, our country, is resolved to be great and is on the path of greatness once again,” he added.
The event, presided over by Governor Dapo Abiodun, was initially slated for April 2 but was postponed following the President’s trip to Jos, Plateau State, where he commiserated with victims of a Palm Sunday attack.
Gunmen had attacked the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos North Local Government Area on March 29, killing at least 28 people and injuring several others.
At the rescheduled ceremony in Iperu, Tinubu described the airport as a major milestone, highlighting its independent power supply.
“Today we have virtually commissioned the project. This airport is separately connected to independent power through our investments in gas and energy,” he said.
Expressing satisfaction with the projects unveiled, the President said, “I am particularly pleased with the mobility, security and agricultural initiatives unveiled today.”
He also lauded the introduction of electric bikes, describing it as a forward-thinking solution to modern transportation challenges.
“The commissioning of 1,000 electric bikes is a smart response to modern transportation needs, embracing technology rather than fossil fuels to improve daily life,” Tinubu stated.
