Following the fracas between Afrobeat popstar Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy, and Disc Jockey, Michael Babatunde Adeyinka, alias DJ Tunez, at a private event in Lagos, the Nigerian DJ Association (NDJ) has temporarily banned Burna Boy’s songs from being played by DJs nationwide.

In a statement posted on the NDJ’s  Instagram platform, the body calls on DJs to maintain professionalism and tolerance within the entertainment industry.

The DJ body had posted,
“Burna Boy’s music is temporarily out of any of our DJs’ playlists until further notice. Our team will carry out a proper investigation on last night’s incident involving one of our own, DJ Tunez,” it read,  urging DJs across Nigeria to be vigilant and respectful toward any individual artist at their events, adding that “Respect among DJs is essential.”

Reports by NDJ state that videos gone viral on social media showed the alleged altercation between Burna Boy and DJ Tunez at Obi’s residence. The NDJ has said it is investigating the disturbing issue.

As yet, no official response has been received from Burna Boy’s management team.
