The Kebbi Progressive Youths (KEPYO) has advised former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, SAN, to tread carefully in his political engagements following reactions that trailed his recent visit to his native Kebbi State.
Malami was reportedly met with protests by some youths upon his arrival in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday, with chants reflecting disapproval of his presence.
In a statement issued after the incident, KEPYO, through its spokesperson, Comrade Musa Adamu, said the development should serve as a signal for reflection.
According to the group, public reactions during the visit indicated underlying sentiments among sections of the population, urging the former Justice minister to reassess his political plans.
“The reception he received from some youths reflects a segment of public opinion in the state,” Adamu said. “It is important for political actors to take note of such reactions and act with caution.”
The group reiterated its support for the administration of incumbent Governor Nasir Idris, noting that many residents remained aligned with the current leadership.
KEPYO further cautioned that heightened political activities should be approached with sensitivity to avoid escalating tensions.
Malami has yet to publicly respond to the incident or the comments by the youth group.
